Adi Shakti Summer Solstice Screening

We had a great time at Adi Shakti celebrating the Summer Solstice!

We presented a showing of our newly released documentary Secret of Water, preceded by a Sacred Sound Journey with international recording artist and sound therapist Kimba Arem. Participants experienced the sound of the quartz crystal didjeridu, waterphone, crystal bowls, Tibetan bowls, 4 chamber flute, Native American flute, and various instruments from around the world.

After the movie, Kimba, who produced the music score and is the movie co-producer and co-writer, led a water ceremony structured by the sound journey and intentional group water movie viewing. She also answered questions and led discussion on the topic of water– a living substance, essential to the fabric of all of life.

What is a sound journey?
A group sound journey is similar to a private sound session with Kimba, but here participants lie on the ground and allow themselves to go on an inner healing journey as Kimba plays various overtone-based instruments, intuitively guided to accommodate the collective frequency and needs of the group. Her main instrument since 1992 is the didjeridu (now the ones she designed made of quartz crystal), but she also plays multi-chambered Native American Flutes, four-chambered Celtic flute, Tibetan and crystal bowls, crystal didjeridu, tingshas, tuning forks, Aboriginal bullroarer, various percussion instruments, and recites healing therapeutic mantras from different cultures around the world. As we begin the journey, hold in your field an intention of some area in your life you want to send more harmony into, and let the sounds guide the way.

Kimba’s Biography
Kimba_rivers_webKimba is a performer, teacher, and recording artist, and musician since age seven, with classical training in piano and flute. She received a B.S. in molecular and cellular biology at the University of Arizona in 1993, later attending acupuncture graduate school studying Chinese Taoist Medicine… and following a near-death experience she was introduced to sound therapy. Since then she has developed her own practice, grown out of extensive subtle-energy training in sound as medicine, herbology, Reiki (master level), flower and gem essences, and aromatherapy, incorporating these diverse elements into a multi-dimensional approach to healing with her sound-therapy private practice. Kimba founded Gaearth and Heartherapy, engineers music for audio and film, has released 13 sound therapy CDs, and offers peace music concerts, didjeridu and sound therapy workshops, and private sound therapy sessions.  She also offers personal and group sound therapy training and instruction.
